This Sucks

So the Red Sox win the World Series in a sweep again and A-Rod has decided to opt-out of his contract. What a shitty night to be a Yankees fan.

~Murph

It never seems to fail that whenever I lose out on a girl, the guy that beats me to her always seems to be one of the lamest people to walk the face of the Earth. Please don't let it be true this time, twice in six months will kill my self-esteem for years.

~Murph

It's The End Of 'Lost'

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/070507g.php

So it was finally confirmed that "Lost" will end in the 2009-2010 TV season. The producers wanted five seasons, but ABC wanted more, so the compromise was made to finish it in six. The next three seasons will run from January to May, 16 episodes each, with no commercials in any episode.

Just a thought, we should have a "Lost" season finale get-together at my house again. Would be cool.

And as for how I'm doing at Purchase. I have one final to study for, which is tomorrow morning, and an article to do tomorrow afternoon. After that, I go to meet for the last time with my broadcast class to watch our news show on Friday, and then I'm done for the year. I'll be home late Friday afternoon/evening.

~Murph

Drive

So you guys should totally watch Drive, a new action-esq show with Nathion Fillion as the main character. I found it to be quite awesome. The two-hour premier was tonight, and the first regularly scheduled episode is tomorrow night at 8 on Fox. Seriously, give this show a looksie. It's a good one in my opinion.

In other news, Day of Dissent was awesome. Danced a lot and whatnot. Afterwards we went to a friend of mine, Jason's, apartment. The lead singer from the Fireflies, they used to be Purchase band, hung out with us there for a little while. Didn't get to sleep until almost 6am though, so I got a lack of sleep today.

Also, screw this rain. I really don't want to have to go over the the Hub to eat and I don't have anything meal worthy in the apartment for me to eat.

~Murph

Zombie Prom!

So I went to Zombie Prom tonight, and it was amazing. So many people dressed up for it, made me feel bad that I didn't put in the effort to do so myself. World Inferno Friendship Society played and they rocked. Got pie all over my face because someone splattered it in the crowd after the pie-eating contest. Was originally with Ben and Sasha but since they weren't going into the pit I migrated away from them and ran into Rork and Brittany and went into the crowd with them. Got pushed around, did some pushing around, held up crowd surfers, got knocked down once, danced a ton, and spent time protecting Brittany. All and all it was an amazing time. And Day of Dissent, another show that Shawn's helping to put on, is tomorrow night.

Only here at Purchase can there be such an event. And it was grand.

~Murph

Back to Purchase

So I've returned to Purcahse after a week long break. It was fun. Patched up something I thought I may have lost forever, which made me really happy, did work on the ring and got lots of progress, got to relax and chill back at home, got my hair cut nice and short, and got to see and hang out with a lot of people. Also saw 300, which was awesome. There were a few things on Friday and Saturday that got on my nerves, but I didn't let it get the best of me. All around it was a good spring break, which is a big improvement from last year, heh. However now that I'm hitting the home stretch back here at Purchase I have tons of work to do before the semester is over.

My Writing About Cities course is getting more and more ridiculous. Only seven people showed up to the class today, and this other kid and I were an hour late to bring it to seven. I had to spend an hour and a half to try and get the slow ass computers in the library to print out stuff for the class. No one does the reading because the teacher expected us, journalism students, to read four 300 page books in a month. One of the books is also hers and she just repeats herself almost all the time, referring to her book and experiences from working as a city reporter. It's nice, but she overdoes it and it gets boring. Practically everyone has lost interest in the class and she's getting really aggravated with all of us. It's getting so bad that she apparently showed up late due to traffic and ended class an hour and a half early at 4:30. A lot of us in the class will be lucky if we pass it.

No class tomorrow, but I need to go into White Plains to finally buy the latest PC Gamer so I can have the info on Eye of the North and Guild Wars 2. I also need to go and start doing research for secondary sources on my last 10-page paper due in about two weeks. Also I just found out that Brittney's 21st birthday is tomorrow and she's having people over next door. So I'll have to make an appearance if not go for a while.

That's all for now. Until my next update.

~Murph

The Break of Spring

So I got home on Friday and I'll be around until next Sunday. Here's a quick rundown of what's happened so far.

-Finally saw 300 with Connor, Regan, Alli, and Kai. Awesome movie, though rather historically incorrect and extremely exaggerated.
-Did work on the ring with Kai Saturday and Sunday at Cody's house. Got six ground supports in and two of the ropes up with the help of Cody's dad.
-Practiced moves and match spots with Kai in the front yard after working on the ring on Saturday. Getting better slowly but surely.
-Watched Wrestlemania alone until I picked Kai up from work. Not the worst I've ever seen, but not the best. It had it's moments, though.

I need to go and get a haircut tomorrow. I think I'm gonna cut it short. Not as short as I had it in high school, but shorter than I've probably had it for a while. And as for anyone who hasn't seen me, the beard's back and I've had it for the past month or so. We'll see how long I'll keep it this time around. I may be going with my dad to pick up Dennis from Canton on Thursday, and although I'd love to go see Canton, that'd mean all of Thursday is forfeit to road travel.

I'm feeling like a gathering at the basement on Friday. So hopefully I'll get enough word out. Until next time.

~Murph

New Hard Drive

So my hard drive basically became unable to run Windows anymore, so I went into White Plains and bought me a brand spankin' new 320GB HD. Everything has been moved over from the old hard drive and I'm going to use that as a backup in case something happens to this new one. Just figured I'd fill everyone in.

Other things that happened today:
-Apartment selection was today. We weren't able to get into Alumni, but we got one right across the walkway from Matt's in the Olde and I'm getting one of the singles, so I'm happy.
-I got a ticket for my car inspection being out of date. I need to call Downey Auto back home and see if they'll take an inspection at some point tomorrow or Wednesday. If that does occur then I'll be home for a few hours on said day.

That's all for now. Peace out people.

~Murph

Another I-Con In The Books

So I-Con was mad fun. Went to lots of stuff, got bunch of pictures, and had lots of fun with Con and Al. Highlights included watching TMNT, playing Magic, playing Civ IV until 4:30AM, the cosplay masquerade, accidentally walking into the last five minutes of a Furry panel (Glares at Connor), and watching a pretty cool martial arts performance. I may go into more detail at some point this week, but I'm kinda burned out from the amount of sleep I got.

This week consists of apartment selection for tomorrow morning, Jesus Camp with Alli on Tuesday, and coming home Friday in which I hope to go and finally see 300. Luckily no real work over the week, either. Always a plus.

Until next time.

~Murph

I just watched 50 episodes of Naruto in one week. Twenty of which within the past 24 hours. Up to 136 now. I need to occupy myself with other things. That's way too much of a single Anime to handle in that amount of time.

~Murph

What A Relief

So after of week of leaving it in the hands of CTS, my computer was returned to me fully backed up on Ryan's external hard drive. I spent most of last night reformatting and putting everything back onto it, and I am glad to say that it is back to its former glory. I'm so damn happy I didn't lose all of my stuff through that crap. Now that it's over, I think I should invest in my own external hard drive in case something like this ever happens again.

Other than that I've been going to class, did shooting for my story on Tuesday with my group, wrote my ten page paper from Sunday to Wednesday, studied for a mid-term Wednesday, watched 'Lost', saw the Ranger game last night, and have been going to the gym. Saw Battle Royale at Anime Club Wednesday night, which was awesome. We played Battle Royale Bingo. If you could get a row of five kids who are killed when they're killed in the film you won a prize. There was also the typical humor worthy of the basement thrown around while watching. Wednesday night Sean, James and Pete from upstairs went to Stop & Shop and bought ice cream and we all had milkshakes while playing Guitar Hero. Last night Sean, Rachel and myself played a game where Ben would throw tiny marshmellows at us and we'd of course have to catch them in our mouth. I ended up kicking ass and only missed about five or six out of the thirty thrown at me.

So yeah, even though this week was filled with a shitload of work, I got through it and had some fun. Now I can relax and enjoy my computer this weekend.

~Murph

Week's Agenda

So the weekend was fun. Had a good old time at Taylor's party, much fun and dancing was had. Got to see Shawn before he heads off to Job Core.

However, on my way back home my car's steering kinda locked up on me once I got off of I-684. I was able to get to Purchase ok, but I had to fight the wheel a bit when I needed to turn. It's most likely the power steering, which means I'll need for fluid and possibly a repair.

And now with this weekend behind me I enter a very swamped and stress looming week of work. Here's how it's going to play out.

Monday: Class at 10:30, then I need to pick up books from the Library and request a camera from CTS for story shooting, then need to get books from my father that I had left at home when he comes to drop it off, then class at 2:30, then I should go to the gym, then I have to work on my 10-page essay that is only a page long at this point. And if my computer comes back from CTS reformat it and put all the backed-up files back on it.

Tuesday: Shooting day for story. Interview Alli, get shots of the UPD office, the Natural Sciences Building, the Purchase Fire Department, and also hound the UPD and PFD for info. Then continue writing the 10-page paper as well as keep restoring my computer or start.

Wednesday: If I haven't been able to finish the paper, do so because it's due the next day. Then go to the gym. If I'm lucky I'll have time to go to Anime Club to watch Battle Royale. Then it's 'Lost' and spending the rest of the night studying for my Modern China midterm for the next morning. Also continue restoring my computer or starting.

Thursday: Class/Midterm at 10:30 and then my other class for the paper at 2:30. Then restore my computer and try to start gathering info on Bronx beat story due Monday. Due some more hunting for info and try to set up more interviews for the broadcast story.

Friday: Broadcast class at 2:30, where I'll be editing what we've already filmed together with my reporter and cameraman and also a midterm that consists of a collective thing of the quizzess we've taken. Then more work on my story, possible Bronx trip if possible for quotes.

Saturday & Sunday: If I haven't gone into the Bronx, do so to get the quotes. Then write up the story and the required article critique for Monday's class. Also finish up restoring my computer to it's former beauty if I haven't been able to over the course of the week.

Should be just wonderfull. I'll pat myself on the back when I get through all of this.

~Murph

I Just Fucked Myself

So after a whole day of trying to fix my computer, I think I killed my hard drive. Sean's extra drive won't detect it, says it's not formatted, and XP won't install an extra version on it because it's either damaged or not formatted. This means the only way of getting my files recovered is if by some miracle CTS can do it for me when I give it to them tomorrow. If not, most of my pictures, videos, and documents are now gone forever. So long as my MP3 player doesn't crap out again my music will be salvaged.

I can already tell this week is going to be terrible.

~Murph

Seriously, WTF?

So my computer's in the shitter again, and everything I've tried has only seemed to make it worse, like usual. My two options are to reisntall Windows, which could mean reformatting, or trusting it to the CTS people by giving it to them tomorrow. The problem with the later option is they don't know when they're going to get there lazy asses to work on it and when they'll give it back to me, and I promised Taylor I'd put the music on my computer onto CDs for her party. Just figures, don't it?

Sometimes I just ask God why he had to give me a computer that loves to fuck me royally twice a year.

~Murph

Purchase Happenings

Well it's been over a week since my last update I believe, and a lot has happened in that week.

I spent most of the week stressing out on the ten-page research paper I had to hand in that Thursday. It ended up being 12+ pages and I got it done, but it was annoying as hell. Gave my presentation on the paper on Thursday to get it over with. I ended up over-talking on the presentation by about five to ten minutes because of how into it I was. After that class I was so glad it was finished.

Sean got a Wii from his friend Will who is in New Zealand for the next couple months. He forgot Wii Sports, but we have Twilight Princess, which kicks ass.

Been going to the gym with Ben, Sean, and sometimes Ryan. We haven't been going as often as we'd like, but it's still good. I'm so glad I have some sort of muscle on my body again, and it's nice to be in shape for backyard wrestling.

Friday night was the most interesting of the week. After my class I went back to the room, called Sal and Alli, ran to the Library to pull money out of the ATM, then was off. Picked up Alli at the dorms and then went down to New Rochelle to get Sal. They were going to tag along with me to go meet the Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy), my favorite wrestling tag-team of all time, at an autograph appearance. Alli and I got caught in traffic getting to Sal, almost thought we wouldn't make it. We picked up Sal, went to the Westchester Mall real quick for Alli, then got to the Westchester County Center, where the appearance was taking place.

We got there in time, and I got them to sign a picture of them and took a Polaroid picture with them, which they both sign as well. It was one of the best moments in my life, definitely made my week and relieved some stress. I got to shake their hands after the photo was taken, too. And Jeff had the WWE Intercontinental Championship with him in all it's beautiful glory. I had a stupid grin on my face for most the rest of the night.

After getting back to Purchase, we grabbed food at the Hub real quick. Saw Elyse there and her roommate Vanessa. Talked to them for a little bit and then headed back to the room. We chilled and ate in the room, then I took some quick photos, and we were then off to Alli's room in Farside.

When we got there just about everyone there, about five or six people, were drunk. Sal, Alli and I just chilled there for a while. We eventually, in the spirit of the weekend before that, chucked shit out of Alli's friend's window. First was my shitty Hot Chocolate I got at the Ritazza Cafe, then we chucked out a plastic two-foot statue of Joseph ("Father" of Jesus). After enjoying that and not finding anything better to chuck out the window, we went to the second floor and hung out with Alli's friend Jason and some of his friends. We played Wii Boxing for a few hours. Only in Wii Boxing can you see Hitler and Michael Jackson beat the hell out of each other. After fun with that and Wii Bowling training, we headed back to the apartment to drive Sal back to his place.

On the way back we saw fire trucks, rope, and a small crowd around the Natural Sciences Building. Turned out that some guy had fallen into these brick tubes that were part of the buildings design next to the entrance and broke his ankle. I was lucky enough to still have my camera on me and took many pictures. The fire department had to send a guy into the tube and bring down a rope and harness to get him out. It took about an hour, but he was finally out, safe and sound. As I was taking pictures of him smiling and waving to people, I went to try and get a picture of his face. One of his friends got in my face and told me to stop taking photos. I just didn't say anything and walked away. I tried to take more photos and she got in my face again. I argued with her about it, but I just decided say fuck it and put the camera away. After that we headed back to the apartment. I then drove Sal home and dropped Alli off at the dorms.

Saturday was just a lazy day for me, as I had been so stressed over work and other emotional things that I felt I needed a day to relax. I played KH2 for hours and just relaxed. I then went to a party Matt, Dan and Sal were having at their apartment in The Old. Got there for the last hour, in which I saw Matt Licari and chilled for a little bit with him, Matt, Cheryl, and Esther in Matt's (not Licari) room. The party was fun and a lot more people came than Matt and the other guys thought. I chilled with Matt and Esther for about an hour after the party ended, then headed back to the room.

Sunday was another lazy chill day for me, where I finally beat KH2 with the Jimminy Journal complete. The special scene blew my mind and confused the hell out of me. I wrote up the article that I had been doing work on for my Writing About Cities course.

Today we turned our closet into a mini personal area, with pillows, a mattress pad, orange holiday lights, and posters. It's a great place to chill and be alone and, if you're Ryan and Sean, smoke. It's really cool and I'll probably take pictures of it soon. I also spent time today figuring out what how I was going to write a paper I'm going to do tomorrow that's due Thursday by reading and looking stuff up.

That's pretty much everything. I'll be home Friday night and will be home until Wednesday. It will be one interesting weekend, and part of that's why I've been stressing out. But it'll all be good regardless. I'll just be glad to be home with all this crap I've been doing at Purchase.

~Murph

3rd Story Window > TV

So I haven't given you guys info in the past week as to how things are going, so it's time I dished some out.

This week went by fast. I've been in a semi-state of crappy-ness, though it doesn't have much to do with the fun I've been having here at Purchase. I think that's all that will be said on that for now.

I finally got time to reformat my MP3 player, so it works again and has all the music on my computer on it. I'm so fucking happy 'cuz now I can listen to my music while in the gym and driving places. I almost go insane without it in those situations, especially since there aren't any good radio stations down here in Westchester.

Classes are meh. Only ones I enjoy are my broadcasting class, which looks to be lots of fun, and my Modern China class, mainly 'cuz Alli transfered into that class and I like the Asian History and culture. My Junior Seminar class blows, still need to get started on that research paper at some point tonight. Not looking forward to ventures into the Bronx and White Plains for my Writing About Cities course.

Had fun last night. Sal came by to chill, so it was fun. We played Gears of War and discovered if you mace someone with a smoke grenade they have smoke billow out of their ass, causing much hilarity to ensue. We then headed over to Matt's apartment in the old and hung out with him, Kyle, Kyle's boyfriend Dan, Rork, Mike, Amelia, and others. After spending an hour there we went to Alli's to chill, which is where the title of this entry comes from.

When we got there, Alli's roommate Melissa was completely drunk again, and another one of her friends was kinda drunk. This other friend decided at one point after a little while of hanging out over there that she was going to throw her TV out of her window because she felt like it and wanted to see it explode in flames. I will inform you all now that Alli and her friends live on the third floor of Farside, technically the fourth from the side of the building they were on. So Alli runs after her trying to get her to stop while Sal and I, thinking it won't happen, continue our conversations. Shortly afterwards we here this, "FUCK COMMUNISM!........*CRASH!*" To our surprise, Alli's friend did indeed chuck her TV out of her window. Amazingly enough the TV remained in one piece.

The rest of the night with Alli included Alli's friend as mentioned before, a lesbian, and another girl, apparently a lesbian or bisexual when drunk, make out; and hanging out for a half hour or so in Alli's friend Jason's room on the second floor. After that Sal and I headed back to the apartment and Sal had to leave.

When that all ended I watched some TV as Sean, Ben, and our friends Michelle and Greg came back to the apartment after the hangout that was originally in our apartment had moved to our friend Erin's apartment. After that I ate the can of Spaghetti-Os that Alli had gotten me at Stop & Shop, which were delicious, and then the five of us played poker until about four in the morning.

So that's how things are going here. Research paper is due on Thursday, article on city beat of the Bronx is due a week from Monday, and then I'll be able to come home Presidents Day weekend for almost a full week. I'm looking forward to it as Dennis will be home for that whole week and others will be coming home as well.

~Murph

Won't This Be Fun

So on Thursday, in my first Junior Seminar class, we were assigned a 10-page research paper and an accompanying 5-10 minute presentation due in two weeks. We will be having about two or three more of these such projects over the course of the semester. Something tells me I won't be having as big a social life this semester. Nor will I enjoy this class.

In other news, shit's gone down. I can explain it later. And I am in a dilemma about certain things in my life. It's a stressful and confusing time indeed. I'll pull through though, like I always do. My condition afterwards however I'm not sure of.

~Murph

Thoughts on Next Semester

So I'll be heading back to Purchase on Sunday. What time is yet to be decided. Most likely whenever I roll out of bed and pack the car. But I'm currently reflecting upon what I'm aiming to do, willing to do, or still contemplating on whether or not to do during this upcoming span at Purchase.

-Definitely going to I-Con. Depending on whether or not I have a midterm on my Friday class will determine whether I will be there the Thursday or Friday night of that weekend.
-I don't think I'm going to take Lisa Keller's offer, since I really don't want to deal with her for the rest of my college career. But ya never know, crazier things have happened.
-Now with Wednesday nights free of classes and 'Lost' moving its airing time to 10, I'll be able to attend many more Anime Club meetings.
-I'll be making a huge decision with who I'll be living with in my last year. Kyle and Mike want me to live with them in Alumni, which I really would like to do, but I also want to live with Sean who may be getting an apartment with Ben and Ryan next year, and I'd love to live with those three again, too.
-Since my nights and most of my evenings are free every day of the week, I'll be able to go back to the gym and keep going again. This will help me get in more shape to do wrestling, plus of course there's the added perks of looking good.
-I really need to crack down on getting an internship. I need to see if I can snag one for the summer since the deadlines are soon. If not, I'll definitely be looking for one over the Fall semester.

That's about it for now, other than the fact of trying to finally find someone down there. But my mind's a mess right now over girl trouble, so I probably won't be addressing that anytime soon. Well, until next time.

~Murph

Junior Year Half Over

So I finished my last exam this morning. It wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be, although it took me studying for four hours and getting only four hours of sleep to prepare. But it all worked out. I came back here and passed out for another three hours, so I now have a decent amount of sleep overall. So now I have to figure out when I'm going to pack most of my shit and bring it back home. We have to be out of the dorms by 7 p.m. tomorrow, so I'll be home tomorrow night. I made that decision a week ago, because I wanted to hang out with my friends here for once. Also things have arisen that make me glad I decided not to leave today.

Last night Mike premiered his movie, Scared Yet?, to an audience in the Red Room for his class with his group. It got such a better response than we thought it was going to. People really enjoyed the interactiveness of the whole thing. I have a copy of the DVD and I'm going to show you guys over the break. It came out pretty well.

One of my friends got fucked over by some guy yesterday and she's upset. I hate it when assholes screw over good people, especially when it comes to guys and relationships. Makes the good ones look bad and they have to try even harder. I'm going to try and cheer her up either today or tomorrow before we both go home. I feel terrible for her.

Other than that there's not much else to say. Coming home tomorrow, going back to work on Monday if they scheduled me, James comes back on the 20th for a week, and then Saturday Connor, Dennis and Ian are all supposed to come home together. Winter break should be fun, except for the work thing.

~Murph
